To provide protection against constantly new and more sophisticated attack methods, strong and up-to-date security mechanisms are required. The Hacking Extreme Countermeasures training gives the participants an overview of the present state-of-the art protection for their IT infrastructure, applications and data.

The training starts with a half-day summary of current attack scenarios on the network and application level.

Based on this, today's security technologies on the network, operating system and application level will be presented and defined in the course of the training. It covers system hardening, secure configuration, patch management, intrusion detection and prevention, web application firewalls, filters for backend protocols such as SQL, SOAP and CORBA and trusted operating systems. Also included are authentication and access management, secure application design, secure programming and auditing of web applications and databases on the application level.

Long-established technologies such as anti virus or network firewalls are not the main focus of the training, but will be addressed in the context of the previously stated technologies.

Some of the technologies will of course be presented using practical examples, including web application firewalls and application scanners.

After completion of the training, the participants will be able to identify and evaluate current security technologies and concepts as well as to select appropriate measures for protection against advanced attack methods.
